Simple and quick tool to find studs. I combine this with my Franklin Sensors stud finder since that one can detect electrical circuits behind the wall. Combining the two makes them the perfect combo for any home project!I used this to mount a glass shelf for a custom PC to sit on. The mounts are dead center, otherwise it would have fallen by now due to its weight. I just moved the stud finder up and down the wall moving slightly to the left or right each time and eventually it'll pop out some. Stay around the area where it pops out and locate where it sticks out the most. Then, very slowly, move it left or right until it just begins to droop. Pencil mark that outside edge of the finder. Then do the some thing going the other way and mark that spot. Kind of like my caveman sketch. Find the very middle of the two spots you marked and that's the center of the stud because contractors place nails right in the middle. But you don't want to hit the nail, so mark about 1" up or down or however far you need. Drill the properly sized hole. Bam!We have a 90 year old house with thick lathe/plaster. This is the only device that has been able to find the stud nails.Highly RecommendHusband loves this handy little gadget!Simple, easy to use, strong magnet. What's not to like?I spent a few hours a couple of nights ago trying to locate the studs in a wall in my home's additon. My regular stud finder just kept erroring out. I realized after some time that the aluminum foil covered insulation that was used was throwing it off. The regular sensor worked fine in other rooms of the house. So a little research led me to this nifty gadget, and after about 15 seconds of running it across the wall as instructed it locked in on a drywall screw. Measure 16 inches over, and bam, it locked in again. So simple, so easy and perfect for guys like me who have very limited carpentry skills!I cannot use a regular battery stud finder. It just doesn’t make sense and too complicated. This little device is a life saver for me. I just put up some board and batten and wainscoting panels and using this was a piece of cake. So glad I found this device from a YouTuber. I want to try the other magnetic stud finders now.Finding a stud in an older 1940's home where the walls are lath and plaster and thicker than the more modern 1/2" to 3/4" thinner drywall was always a nightmare. We tried so many different electronic stud finders in the $25.00-$40.00 price range over the years, but none of them work properly when the walls are not an even sheet of thin drywall. Our plaster and lath walls are not even in thickness, but rather 3/4" to over an inch thick in parts. The outside walls are even thicker being a cement type plaster over some actual layer of a cement type base. I purchased this Studpop magnetic stud finder based on the description that it will work on sheetrock (all studfinders work on this thin sheet), plaster (hardly any studfinders work on thicker plaster), lath and tile. This great tiny super strong magnetic stud finder works and works well! Even on 1 inch thick cement type plaster, that little popper snaps straight up when it finds the stud. When the walls are this thick, it won't stick to the wall as it will when the walls are only 1/2" to 3/4" thick, but that popper works perfectly! I only wish I would have found this Studpop, 3 stud finders ago- I could have saved all that wasted money. With no batteries, no calibrations needed, no mistakes ever, this is the best stud finder money can buy- and the best part is you don't need much money! The only warning on the package is, that the magnetic field can be harmful to pacemaker wearers- and my husband has a pacemaker/defibrillator, so I do all the studfinding. The magnetic field is really strong to be able to find nails buried in our thicker old cement type plaster walls. This is the only studfinder you'll ever need and what I love best about this 5 STAR studfinder is that Studpop is made in the USA- American money going to Americans- if only all our products could be like Studpop! There are plenty of electronic/digital stud finders on the market and I was tempted, but then spotted these simple magnetic Studpops. Brilliant! Sliding across and/or up and down the wall until you feel the magnet pull on a screw head couldn't be easier. It just holds on the screw. I bought two, so moving down below the first one just confirms the line of the stud. No fuss, just quick accurate finding of the wall stud. The idea is great, but the magnet isn’t strong enough. If it was stronger the piping sound would be louder, at this time you are better of getting a strong fridge magnet which is cheaper and still does the job. Can’t really justify the price for the product personally. After reading some other reviews some good and some bad I wasn't sure what to think but I thought for the price it was worth a try, I am pleasantly surprised. I mainly work with wooden stud walls so I was not sure how well this would work but it manages to find the plasterboard screws really well and is definitely worth the money
